We have been winding and manufacturing small, medium and large series of rotors and stators for all types of electric motors for more than 27 years. Our narrow specialization in winding and top, state-of-the-art technological equipment, but above all the high expertise of our employees, allow us to meet any requirements of our customers in the highest quality, short deadlines and at a good price.

SOPO has gone through three stages of development in the field of winding:

1. Manual winding - that’s how it all started

2. Winding outsourcing - we are able to take over a customer’s existing production

3. Co-creators of new generations of electric motors - we develop a new winding technology and support our customers in the development of new electric motors based on the approach "Invent your motor and we will invent and manufacture winding for you".

We provide complete production of "End to End" rotors and stators from manual to robotic workplaces, including the provision of strategic materials.

1992

Entry of the company into the Commercial Register

1993

Founding of SOPO s.r.o., relocation of the electric motor repair shop from the garage of a family's home to the address Modletice 19. Repairs and rewinding of electric motors, pumps, and electric hand tools for Czech customers

1996

First small-lot manufacturing – commutator rotors – replacement parts for NAREX electric hand tools

1998

Start of small-lot production of commutator rotors for a German customer

1999

SOPO SERVIS, s.r.o. founded to separate rotor manufacturing from the service. SOPO SERVIS repairs electric motors, pumps, and electric hand tools mostly for Czech customers

2000

New operations site opened in Jílové near Prague for the manufacturing of special wound parts, mostly for bicycles, wheelchairs, and other low-voltage applications.

SOPO MOTOR s.r.o. founded to expand the manufacturing premises and capacity for producing stators. The production facility is located in the town of Kutná Hora. Until 2000, SOPO s.r.o. only made commutator rotors

2004

New rotor manufacturing facility opened at the address Modletice 1 – start of production of commutator rotors on fully automatic winders

2005

New production site opened in Ochoz near Brno in order to expand the manufacturing facilities and capacity for producing rotors and stators for unidirectional electric motors for wind turbines

2008

New production site opened in Jedovnice near Blansko in order to expand the manufacturing facilities and capacity. At this time, operations are shut down in Ochoz near Brno.

New production site opened at the address Modletice 94 for the purpose of fully automatic manufacturing mostly of asynchronous stators

2011

SOPO MOTOR s.r.o. moved to a new site in Nebovidy near Kolín in order to expand the manufacturing facilities and improve conditions for employees

2012

Major expansion and complete modernization of the operations site at Modletice 94 to expand the production facilities, create new storage facilities, and improve conditions for employees

2013

Opening of a new Development Center because of the increasing need for making prototypes, development of new products together with our customers, and the associated development and implementation of made-to-order manufacturing technologies;

Introduction of the new IFS information system

Moving of manufacturing from Jílové near Prague to the newly renovated facilities at Modletice 1

2014

Opening of a new storage site in Modletice, expansion of the manufacturing facilities at the address Modletice 94 in order to greatly increase production compared with 2013

2015

The foundation of SOPO INVEST s.r.o. – a sister company that manages immovable assets. The release of the first issue of Sopoděj, our corporate quarterly

2016

Expansion of production capacities – the purchase of a manufacturing facility in Bystřice nad Perštejnem. Purchase of a land for the construction of a new manufacturing plant in Modletice

2017

The merger of SOPO MOTOR s.r.o. with the parent company SOPO s.r.o.;

Holder of a quality management system certification according to the revised EN ISO 9001:2015 standard

2018

Planned construction of new administrative&manufacturing headquarters

2019

Opening of a new factory (administrative& production headquarters) in Modletice. Strengthening the company's top management with the joining of the new CEO and statutory representative of SOPO, Radomír Sabela

Besides manufacturing and services, SOPO is heavily involved with support both for nationwide organizations and for local organizations, clubs, and civic associations.

We generally support these organizations through regular financial gifts and, in some cases, we provide material assistance or vehicles for transporting people or materials. Many of the company’s employees including management also actively engage in the activities of local organizations.

This is a nongovernmental non-profit organization based on the ideas of humanism, freedom, equality, and solidarity. It regards human dignity and freedom as basic values, and it believes that people anywhere in the world should have the right to make decisions about their own lives and to share in the rights set forth in the General Declaration of Human Rights. It therefore actively takes part in creating a society in which differences of culture, ethnicity, race etc. are a source of enrichment rather than conflict.

Člověk v Tísni

The children´s home is located in the picturesque Sázava river valley in the town of Sázava, Benešov District, in the Central Bohemia Region. It was founded in 1941 for orphans during the war. 24 children live at the children’s home (in three families of 8 children) between 3 and 18 years of age and 3 adults (2 aunts and an uncle).

Konto Bariéry, a key project of the Charta 77 Foundation, is the first and, so far, the only continuous charity fundraiser, and for twenty-one years, tens of thousands of donors have participated. Through their regular monthly contributions, they help carry out and fund the Kontro Bariéry program, the main goal of which is to improve the lives of our handicapped fellow citizens and to achieve their full-fledged integration into society.

As is well known, the people of Modletice actively organize all kinds of events, such as children’s days, festivals, amateur theatrical performances, musical evenings etc. Thus, the need arose to put all of those activities under one roof, so this Modletice association was created, with the goal of developing culture and sports in rural areas, and especially in Modletice.

Sdružení Modletice Sobě

This is an important music festival in the Central Bohemia Region. It combines a traditional music festival with songwriting and performing contests for children all over the Czech Republic. At present, the festival is the only one of its kind. Winners of the competition for children are given prizes and they get to appear at affiliated festivals all over the Czech Republic.

Festival Folkový Kvítek

The Modletice Volunteer Fire Department is an active unit with a broad membership base, and it mainly performs a supporting role when professional firefighters respond to calls in the region. They have already taken an active part in several dozen responses in Modletice and the surrounding areas. The fire department also takes part in fire-fighting sports, and trains several teams in various age categories. In recent years, it has dedicated itself in particular to the education and training of children and adolescents. It participates regularly and competes successfully in fire-fighting sports events in the Central Bohemia Region.

Hasiči Modletice

This civic association was founded for the purpose of the protection, renewal, and reconstruction of a local cultural landmark – the fort in Nebovidy. In addition to this main goal, the association also focuses on holding cultural and societal events in the town of Nebovidy, usually directly related to the historical fort.

Sdružení Nebovidská Tvrz

This local organization arranges cultural and entertainment events for children from Modletice and the greater area. The best known event is the traditional Children’s Day that has been held for more than 30 years, and that attracts large numbers of children each year from all over the Central Bohemia Region and Prague. Alfíci also holds children’s summer camps, in-line roller skating and scooter competitions, boating trips, and weekend nature events.

Dětský Klub Alfíci Modletice

This music festival has its foundation in folk music, and it tries to reach a wide range of listeners, especially in and around Modletice. It offers cultural activities and the chance to enjoy a pleasant afternoon for music fans, and especially for families with children. The festival always prepares an auxiliary program for families such as art workshops, a jumping castle, a magician and other performers, model trains etc. The star musicians who have already appeared at the music festival include Tomáš Klus, Aneta Langerová, and others.

Festival Modletické Zvonění

This amateur theatre company has been active in Modletice for over 10 years, and it has successfully rehearsed and performed dozens of plays, and especially comedies by leading Czech and foreign dramatists. The theatre company’s home stage is in Modletice, but thanks to relationships built over the years, the company also makes guest appearances with its productions in Prague, Keblov, Těptín, and elsewhere.
